Most entry-level bio students have studied the Quagga. It’s tragic history is well known as are the efforts to restore this species. Officially Quagga are extinct but thanks to the efforts of the Quagga Project, there is some success in the effort to restore the species through back-breeding strategies. Rather than me poorly explaining what the Quagga Project is all about, I will link it here for further reading. In 2009 we traveled to the Karoo to see the animals for ourselves.
